ABOUT THE PROJECT
Globally, we have vast lithium (Li) resources in continental/geothermal brines. The main barriers to making Li extraction viable are the environmental damage and cost of concentrating these dilute resources.
Espiku’s technology concentrates Li-containing brines which enables extraction at a low cost and with minimal environmental impact. The thermal process produces only clean water, solid salts, and a concentrated Li stream for battery-grade Li extraction. It has the potential to enable new sources of Li for Li-ion batteries, as well as produce other valuable minerals which are vital for our transition to zero-emission electrification of the energy sector.
