Andy Miller
Andy Miller joins the Breakthrough Energy Fellows program from Loamist in Berkeley, CA. As CEO, Andy leads product, engineering, and strategy for the company. With a background in bioengineering and industrial design, Andy brings a unique blend of engineering, design, and entrepreneurship to the table. Andy has been a founder or early hire at four successful mission-driven startups prior to Loamist.
Loamist is developing an innovative platform that integrates supply-chain software with a physical network for aggregating and commoditizing biomass feedstocks. The Loamist platform simplifies the sourcing process by providing reliable, consistent, and auditable biomass supply at any scale, ensuring that companies of all sizes can transition to low-carbon feedstocks more smoothly and sustainably. Through the Fellows program Loamist will pilot the deployment of this platform, validating a path to scale.
Andy received his BS in Bioengineering from Rice University. He then spent two decades making impactful products that have been featured in Vogue, CNN, Wired, the NY Times and recognized by three Red Dot Design Awards and has 18 patents. In addition to running Loamist, Andy is an avid trail runner. He can be found participating in local trail half marathons and running up mountains in Costa Rica.
