Molten Industries
Company Description
Molten’s methane pyrolysis technology produces carbon-neutral hydrogen and graphite in a continuous process at >1000C using 4x less electricity than water electrolysis, up to 25% less energy than natural graphite production, and 37% less energy than synthetic graphite production. Hydrogen and graphite are both valuable inputs that can be used in a variety of products, including lithium-ion batteries, steelmaking electrodes, refractories, concrete, paints, plastics, and tires.
Graphite: Molten is the only team in the world to produce drop-in, battery grade graphite from natural gas and renewable electricity. Molten graphite has industry-leading battery performance with a virtually uninterruptible supply chain, representing a fundamental shift in supply and cost structure of this critical battery material.
Hydrogen: Molten uses existing natural gas infrastructure to provide a scalable, cost-efficient decarbonization solution for steel and chemical producers. When using waste methane from sources such as landfills, dairy farms, and wastewater treatment plants, Molten’s hydrogen is carbon-negative, representing a sink of harmful methane emissions.
