Abigail Mathieson joins the Breakthrough Energy team as a Senior Manager, Strategy & Operations on the Fellows team, and is based in New York.
Abigail has spent her career working in strategy, operations, and product management roles across climate, technology and consumer goods companies. A systems thinker and strategist at heart, Abigail has led operations overhauls, brand turnarounds, and GTM strategy at firms across the US and Europe. Abigail holds an MBA and an M.S. in Energy & Environmental Systems from Stanford University, and a B.A. from Duke University.
Prior to joining Breakthrough Energy, Abigail served in a dual-appointment fellowship at Stanford’s Sustainable Finance Initiative and The Steyer Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance, where she published research on Carbon Accounting, Carbon Markets, and Energy Transition Finance.
A Northern California native, Abigail’s passion for energy and climate traces back to her childhood spent hiking the Mt. Tamalpais watershed and camping in Muir Woods. In her free time, Abigail enjoys cooking, cycling, board games, and walking the West Side Highway with her dog Penelope.
