At Breakthrough Energy, Jolene supports the Fellowship Team in developing a world class technology commercialization program for the BE Fellows.
Jolene comes to Breakthrough Energy from the University of Maryland where she held a dual role at Mtech, the University’s technology commercialization institute. At Mtech, Jolene managed operations, strategy, and programming for the Mtech Ventures Incubator, an on-campus incubator for university researchers commercializing technology. She also managed the Chesapeake Bay Seed Capital Fund, an early-stage investment fund developed in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources where she invested in Maryland-based climate tech startups.
Prior to Mtech Ventures, Jolene was the first business hire at fin-tech startup Allovue where she helped build out the company’s customer-facing support and training infrastructure. There she trained over 1,000 school district finance administrators how to use the Allovue platform to effectively track and manage their district’s spending.
Jolene has a B.B.A. in Finance from the CUNY Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Baruch. Jolene was also a 2014 Venture for America Fellow.
In her free time, you can find Jolene tapping into her former life as a competitive latin ballroom dancer and dancing anywhere music is playing.
