At Breakthrough Energy, Maria leads the Germany program and supports EU-level policy engagement. Additionally, she oversees the Europe team’s efforts in carbon management.

Before joining Breakthrough Energy, she worked for the Volkswagen Group Representation in Brussels, shaping the regulatory conditions for electric vehicles and smart mobility. Prior to that, she worked for Vestas Wind Systems’ Public Affairs Team, advocating for renewable energy.

Maria brings a background in international business and politics, holding a Master’s degree from Copenhagen Business School. Her academic journey included living experiences in Turkey and China.

In her free time, you can find Maria on the soccer field of the team that she recently joined. She also enjoys long-distance running and having friend over for dinner. She is originally from the German countryside and currently lives in Berlin.
