Maya Johnson is an Associate with Breakthrough Energy’s U.S. Policy and Advocacy team. In this role, Maya supports BE’s many policy portfolios while strategically advancing policy and advocacy operations to achieve a net-zero economy.
Before joining Breakthrough Energy, Maya worked with the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. She also worked at the Environmental Defense Fund in their Political Affairs division. While at EDF, she assisted the climate and political affairs programs with social outreach, media monitoring, and research on climate policy.
Maya obtained her B.S. degree in Environmental & Agricultural Systems from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. She enjoys visiting museums, creating new vegan recipes, experiencing live music, reading, and expanding her plant collection.
