Neal joined Breakthrough Energy in July 2022 as Manager, Project Finance on the Catalyst team. In this role, Neal focuses on the diligence, structuring and execution of project-level investments in Catalyst’s focus areas: green hydrogen, long-duration energy storage, sustainable aviation fuels, and direct air capture.
Prior to joining Breakthrough Energy, Neal worked as a Senior Associate at CohnReznick Capital, a boutique investment bank, providing financial modeling, due diligence, and transaction management services for renewable energy project finance and M&A transactions. Neal’s work at CohnReznick Capital covered utility-scale and distributed solar PV, PV + storage, and onshore wind assets in the US. Earlier in his career, Neal held a variety of finance roles at Shell, most recently providing financial modeling and accounting services for M&A activity in Shell’s US midstream business. In previous roles, Neal provided financial support to the company’s refining and E&P businesses.
Neal received an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BS in Finance from Tulane University. He currently lives in San Francisco, and enjoys hiking, cycling, and spending time in the fantastic area parks. Neal is an avid traveler, and is – for better or worse – a coffee snob.
