Peter was raised in a small Minnesota farming community and has dedicated his career to the study of building more sustainable agricultural systems while empowering farmers to become part of the climate solution.

Before joining BEV, Peter was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University where he researched the role of carbon dioxide removal technologies in the Paris Agreement as well as the use of agricultural offsets in the State of California’s recent CO2 cap and trade program.

Peter completed his PhD in Land and Atmospheric Science at the University of Minnesota where he improved the United Nations’ agricultural GHG emission budget and identified ways for farmers to cost-effectively mitigate nitrous oxide emissions. He previously served as a scientist for the Agricultural Research Service, the USDA’s in-house research agency, and completed a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Minnesota.
