As Director of Grants Management, Sophie is responsible for driving efficient, effective, and partner-friendly business processes and systems to support Breakthrough Energy’s full lifecycle of grantmaking operations.

Sophie joined Breakthrough Energy from Vulcan LLC where she most recently led Grants Management, Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning, and Project Management teams to ensure seamless, timely, and compliant philanthropic services. She also directed the effort to develop equity-focused and needs-based philanthropic strategies to advance vibrant communities in the Pacific Northwest. In prior roles Sophie has overseen a diverse set of initiatives ranging from financial services technology delivery to pandemic response planning. She has led a variety of culturally focused programs, projects, and strategic planning efforts for museums to strengthen service to and engagement with the community.

Sophie holds a BS in Mathematics from Western Washington University. She is a native of Washington State and calls Seattle her hometown. Sophie enjoys travel, cooking, and hanging out with her husband and dogs.
